The Hamilton Film Board (HFB) is proud to share that our launch was featured in The Hamilton Spectator. The article, “Local filmmakers form Hamilton Film Board” by journalist Daniel Nolan, shines a spotlight on Hamilton’s booming film and television sector and the collective of industry professionals behind our new non-profit.

Nolan’s piece notes how Hamilton has quickly become one of Canada’s busiest production centres, welcoming everything from Hollywood blockbusters to acclaimed Canadian films. Over the years, the city has hosted major projects such as The Handmaid’s Tale, The Umbrella Academy, The Boys, Mayor of Kingstown, and The Incredible Hulk, as well as Canadian features like Anything for Jackson, White Lie, and The End of Sex. This steady flow of production has put Hamilton on the global map while fueling a thriving local independent scene.

The article highlights the founding of the Hamilton Film Board as a response to this momentum — bringing together producers, directors, location managers, and technicians to act as a unified voice for the city’s screen sector. The HFB’s mission is to advocate for local filmmakers, foster opportunities for emerging talent, and showcase Hamilton as a premiere destination for screen production.

Our President, producer Christopher Giroux, emphasized the importance of coordination and collaboration across the industry. With more than 50 producing credits and his role as Senior Vice President of Production at Vortex Media, Giroux underscored the opportunity to both support local creators and strengthen Hamilton’s position on the world stage.

Looking ahead, the article also points to our “Film Lives Here” activation at Supercrawl 2025, where the HFB will present an interactive booth featuring live demonstrations, guest panels, and behind-the-scenes experiences. This will give festival-goers a chance to connect directly with Hamilton’s filmmaking community.

We’re grateful to The Hamilton Spectator and Daniel Nolan for shining a light on this important moment for Hamilton’s creative industries. As the HFB grows, we invite you to get involved:
